Steve has more than 30 years of public accounting experience concentrated in the retail, manufacturing and energy industries. He provides tax planning and compliance services to individuals and families as well as public and privately held companies, including those with ACS-740 needs.  

He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Oklahoma Society of CPAs. He has presented on tax issues related to new laws and planning considerations for various organizations.

Steve is an active supporter of the Tulsa Regional Chamber, including serving on the Small Business Connection Advisory Council and volunteering with the annual resource campaign. He also serves on the Board of Leadership Tulsa as a graduate of Class 32.

He chairs BKD Foundation’s Tulsa Advisory Council and serves as a deacon and finance committee member at South Tulsa Baptist Church, as well as a group leader with BSF International.

Steve is a 1985 and 1986 graduate of Baylor University, Waco, Texas, with a B.B.A. degree in accounting and finance and an M.A. degree in taxation.

Shawn M. Loader, CPA

A member of BKD National Construction & Real Estate Group and BKD National Manufacturing and Distribution Group, Shawn provides tax compliance, research, planning and consulting services to a broad range of for-profit organizations. He has experience with multistate filings for commercial enterprises and is versed in interstate apportionment issues and state-specific tax law and adjustments. 

After serving as a national tax assistant director in BKD’s National Office, he transferred to the Tulsa office to move into the tax director role for BKD’s Oklahoma practice. During his National Office tenure, Shawn provided technical support to BKD tax professionals, reviewed various tax consultations and coordinated internal tax inspections, among other duties.  He devoted a significant amount of his time to helping coordinate, develop and deliver training at Camp BKD tax sessions as well as tax staff level training.  

Shawn has composed articles on new tax legislation, tax credits, incentives and deductions, ID theft and phishing scams. He is very active in BKD’s training and onboarding of new offices and team members, including office processes, firmwide templates and software.  Shawn played a key role in BKD’s firmwide tax standardization initiative as well as other innovation projects.  Prior to his rotation in the National Office, he worked in BKD’s San Antonio, Texas, office serving primarily not-for-profit clients.

He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Missouri Society of CPAs.

Shawn has held governing board positions with BKD Foundation and a private school in San Antonio catering to kids with learning differences. As a second-generation Eagle Scout, he has been active with the Boy Scouts of America in some capacity all his life.  This most recently has included membership with a local Boy Scout Council and leadership of a Cub Scout Den.

He is a 2008 graduate of Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, with a B.S. degree with a concentration in finance and accounting and an M.S. degree with a concentration in accounting.
